Susceptibility to Carcinogenesis in Offsprings after Maternal Preconceptional Exposure to Ionizing Radiation

Abstract
In order to examine dose-response relationship in offspring after maternal conceptional exposure to ionizing radiation carcinogenesis and also examined the dose-response relationship for the tumorigenicity susceptibility of radiation according to generations.
Each four female and male rat(SD) experimental group were divided according the level of exposure to radiation at 14 days of pregnancy and treatment of DEN to 4-week-old offsprings. The offsprings, which were bored of exposed rat were treated with DEN(50§·/§¸). The radiation-treated pregnant rats were received each 10, 80, 80, 90 rad whole body irradiation at 14 days of pregnancy according to each experimental group. There are no mortality attributable to the irradiation and DEN. The body weight gain showed no linear correlation with radiation dose and relative liver weight was not difference among the with or without irradiation group. In immunohistochemical examination of liver, the GST-P^+ foci number and area in 30 rad group(both female and male) were maximum, but which were to linear correlation with radiation dose.
These results suggest that the tumorigenicity susceptibility of the offsprings after maternal conceptional exposure of ionizing radiation was no linear correlation with radiation dose.
